The mission of the Prattsburg Free Library is to provide informational materials that serve as important resources for the educational, work and recreational needs of the community of Prattsburgh. 

The Library offers books, audio books on cd or cassette also dowloadable audio books, vhs tapes and DVDs, computer services and various other media to the public in an uncensored, comfortable and convenient environment. 

The Prattsburg Free Library will also continue to play an important role in preserving our town's heritage for future generations.  We have many books on local history and cemeteries.  We have started a collection of yearbooks donated by the school.  If anyone would like to donate early yearbooks we would be glad to add them to the library's collection.

We have a nice seating area for reading or visiting and a meeting room that can be used by non profit groups if scheduled in advance.

The Prattsburg Free Library has partnered with a number of agencies to bring area residents services that they would otherwise have to travel to get. 

  • We regularly host sign up for medical insurance, so if you are in need of insurance you can be scheduled for an appoinment right in Prattsburgh at the library.  Call the helpline at 1-800-346-2211
  • Testing for the census jobs is taking place at the library and we have information and practice tests, just ask at the desk.
  • Cash will be doing taxes (free) on March 3rd at 1 pm just call 211 to schedule your appointment.  There will be qualified people on hand to do your taxes and file them.
  • Literacy volunteers meet their clients at the library.
  • NY State employment can schedule some of its testing at the library.

We have on display a rotating exhibit brought to us from the Steuben County Historical Society.  http://www.steubenhistoricalsociety.org/

We also share our facilites with other non profits and we are willing to partner with them to bring programs to the area residents.  Partnering benefits everyone.
